The Vintage Pulau Ubin

Indeed, I do miss the old Pulau Ubin.

The island has lose its charm to the continuous development on the island.

If the development helps to preserve the rustic side of the island, it will be a plus point.
But sadly, this isn't the case. Some of the development has been catered for commercial purposes.

I can't help feeling disturb with the "development".
Where people in Singapore are trying very hard to bring back the vintage / retro feel of the Nation, on the other hand, we are transforming an already rustic island to another city-like island.

Perhaps, National Heritage Board can look into developing a Ubin Museum on the island, to bring back the good old memories that we once had on the island.

Too busy with city life and you don't have much time for Holidays?
Why not take a break at Pulau Ubin?

Personally, I enjoy taking pictures of the island whenever I go there;
the developments on the island happen too fast and the history are long forgotten.
We need to treasure whatever remains on the island.

Gemalto Photography Outing @ Pulau Ubin
15 June 2013, Saturday

Bright and Shine!!!

It's certainly a good day for Chek Jawa BoardWalk.

The tide on that day is between 0.6m to 0.8m.
Its the best time to explore Chek Jawa.

Just look how far the shore line stretch...

Met Ria!!! She's was with Team Seagrass on a field trip.

It's a rare sight to see people walking along the shore.

Capturing the wonderful moment at Chek Jawa.

What was she shooting at?

Taadaa !!!! Feeder Crabs !!

Snap Snap...

A group photo before we depart from Chek Jawa for lunch!!

Farewell to Pulau Ubin..

It has been a good trip for everyone!!

Meanwhile, check out Team Seagrass's field trip on the same day!!

Nature Walk @ Pulau Ubin, 17 May 2008

This is my first entry of my Pulau Ubin Tour after so many time of conducting of such tours.

Usually, the number of participants ranges from 4 pax to 8 pax, but this time round, we have a break through; There are 9 participants!

For this trip, we have a couple of break through:
- 9 participants
- Visit to Ketam Mountain Bike Park
- Seen Pulau Ubin decorated for Vesak Day C elebration

After introduction of the tours @ Betel Box, we headed for the bus stop. The 50 minutes bus journey breaks the ice among the participants.
Arriving at Changi Village, we break off for lunch, with the participants trying the local delights.
Bum boat ride increase from S$2.00 to S$2.50, but that does not prevent people from entering the island.

Upon reaching the island, we were welcomed with religious flag decorated for Vesak Day celebration. According to the locals, 2008 is the first time where the village put up such decoration with helps from sponsors who love the island.

Bike, a human-powered tool to move around the island, gives some of the participants a real-time adventure experience as they have not been on bikes for ages.

A Get Away from the city gives everyone a different view about Singapore, and have their weekend fully charged up with fresh air and positive energy.

Too bad this time round I did not take much pictures, but certainly for the rest of the upcoming tours, I will include more pictures for the reader's view.
